Donya Washington, President and co-founder
My vision has always been comprehensive. I want to touch the lives of children and the wonderful families who change their lives to make a difference. But I also want an environment that values those who work for New Promise by creating a culture of appreciation and cooperation that involves us all pitching in to help each other. Self-care is as essential as excelling in the services and work we do. So my goal is to have a staff that does outstanding SWAN services while balancing that with a work environment that doesn't create burnout.
Outside of facilitating adoptions, I enjoy writing science fiction/fantasy novels and pursuing a health-conscious way of life. Years ago I nearly lost my life and I decided to view that challenge as a motivation to live with daily gratitude and a dedication toward health. Now I eat lots of fruits and vegetables, work out three times a week, and practice yoga and meditation daily. To learn more about that side of me, you're welcome to read some of my articles on health and creative writing at: https://www.espirits.us/
